Information Technology

Whereas many Town departments provide their services directly to the citizens, businesses or other external agencies, the Information Technology Department's primary customers are other Town departments. The fundamental role of the IT Department is to support Town departments in the implementation of their plans to deliver services to citizens and other customers. These systems and technologies provide department personnel with information relative to their operations, support strategic planning, promote effective resource management, enhance customer service and promote internal and external communications. The Information Technology Department and the technologies it can implement are major resources for increasing Town productivity and effectiveness. The department assumes the following responsibilities for all IT projects and systems including:

  • Communications Implementation, Maintenance and Support
  • Contingency Planning
  • Data Analysis, Backup and Restoration
  • Database Programming
  • Disaster Recovery Planning
  • Employee Computer Education
  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
  • Hardware and Software Consultation, Implementation, Maintenance and Support
  • Helpdesk Support
  • Inventory Management
  • IT Project Management
  • IT Contract Negotiation and Management
  • Internet Security
  • License Compliance
  • Outside Vendor Liaison
  • Policy Development
  • System and Data Security
  • System and Network Design and Integration
  • Telephone System Implementation, Maintenance and Support
  • Technology Research
  • Web Development, Maintenance and Support
  • Voicemail Implementation, Maintenance and Support
