Salem Fire Department operates three fire stations staffed by a total of fifteen (15) personnel per shift. Line personnel work twenty-four hour shifts that over an eight week cycle averages 42 hours per week. Station locations and apparatus assignments are as follows:

Salem Fire Department offers highly professional, Advanced Life Support pre-hospital care to our residents and visitors. We operate four (4) ambulances (two from Station #1 -Headquarters and one out of each district station) and one paramedic intercept vehicle (responding from Headquarters town-wide). We currently have ten paramedic firefighters. In addition, there are several fire officers that have maintained their certification as paramedics and we also have more than one dozen EMT-Intermediates. All remaining firefighting personnel are certified at the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Level.
Our medical resource hospital is Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire. We also transport patients to other receiving hospitals including Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA; Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA; and Merrimac Valley Hospital in Haverhill, MA.
